FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a big crew?
No. We’re a small, hands-on operation by design. That doesn’t limit the size of projects we take on. We regularly work on jobs of all sizes and have partnered with high-end builders for decades. Keeping things small allows us to maintain quality, consistency, and direct oversight on every project.
Do you have to sand drywall? Won’t that make a mess?
Yes, drywall always needs to be sanded. Anyone who tells you otherwise is cutting corners. That said, how sanding is handled makes a big difference. We use Festool sanding systems with HEPA filter vacuums that capture dust at the source and greatly reduce how much spreads through your home. There will always be some dust during drywall work, but this approach minimizes it significantly.
Do you only serve Torrington?
No, not at all. While we’re based in Torrington, we specialize in serving the Northwest Corner of Connecticut and work throughout all of Litchfield County. If you’re unsure whether your location is within our service area, just give us a call and ask.
What types of drywall services do you offer?
We offer drywall repair, drywall installation, drywall finishing and skim coating (as part of installation), and drywall replacement. Our services are focused on residential interior projects where quality and attention to detail matter.
Do you handle small drywall repairs or only larger projects?
We handle both. Small repairs like holes, cracks, or damaged sections are common requests, as well as larger installation and replacement projects. Every job is evaluated individually to make sure it’s a good fit.
Do you subcontract your drywall work?
No. All drywall work is handled directly by us. We don’t subcontract the work out to unknown crews. This allows us to maintain consistent quality, clear communication, and accountability from start to finish.
Is drywall finishing or skim coating offered as a standalone service?
No. Drywall finishing and skim coating are only offered in conjunction with drywall installation. Finishing depends heavily on how the drywall is installed, and keeping everything under one scope allows us to control quality and deliver consistent results.
What does “paint-ready” drywall mean?
Paint-ready drywall means the surfaces have been properly taped, mudded, sanded, and finished so they’re smooth and uniform. If priming is included, the surface is sealed and prepared for paint. Final painting is not included unless discussed in advance.
Do you offer priming after drywall work?
Yes. Priming is available as an add on to drywall installation or replacement packages. Priming helps seal the surface and creates a uniform base for paint, reducing the chance of flashing or uneven coverage.
How do I know if drywall should be repaired or replaced?
If drywall has been exposed to moisture, is sagging, crumbling, or has been patched multiple times without lasting results, replacement may be the better option. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to talk through what you’re seeing and help determine the best approach.
Do you remove and dispose of old or damaged drywall?
Yes. Drywall replacement includes removing damaged material and preparing the surface for new installation. We make sure the area is properly ready before new drywall goes up.
Can you replace just part of a wall or ceiling?
In many cases, yes. If the damage is localized, we can often replace only the affected section and blend it cleanly with the surrounding surface. We’ll assess the situation and explain what makes the most sense.
Will drywall repairs or replacement be noticeable after painting?
When done correctly, repairs and replacements should disappear once painted. We focus on clean transitions, proper finishing, and surface consistency so the finished result blends naturally.
Do you work with builders as well as homeowners?
Yes. We regularly work with custom builders and homeowners. We’re used to coordinating with other trades and making sure drywall work stays on schedule so projects can move forward smoothly.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We’re fully licensed and insured. A certificate of insurance is always provided prior to starting work.
How does your estimate process work?
You call and speak directly with us. If the project is a good fit, we schedule a time to review the work. You’ll receive a clear, written proposal within 48 to 72 hours outlining the scope so expectations are clear before moving forward.
What’s the best way to get started?
The best first step is to call and talk through your project. We’ll give you a straight answer about whether it’s a good fit and what the next steps would look like.
